How is marriage?”

This is a question I often get asked. When I ask people why they pose it, their response is usually, “Because the word on the street is that marriage is hard, difficult, and frustrating.”

Here is the truth: marriage is beautiful. What often makes marriage seem hard or difficult to navigate are certain factors such as marrying the wrong person, entering into marriage for the wrong reasons, or failing to understand that becoming one is a journey. This journey requires constant adjustment, growth, and shifting—it is not something that happens overnight.

Marriage also becomes difficult when one partner is not present and available, or when there is a lack of communication and ineffective ways of expressing thoughts and feelings. These elements can create frustration, but when they are handled with wisdom and care, the beauty of marriage begins to shine through.

The reality is that marriage, when grounded in love and guided by God’s principles, is not complicated. Why would God design something that is meant to frustrate us? Instead, He created marriage as a covenant meant to reflect His love, unity, and partnership.

In conclusion, marriage is not only beautiful but also fulfilling when we walk in God’s ways and apply His wisdom daily. It continues to grow richer and more meaningful when both partners commit to the journey together.

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” — Mark 10:9
